Last weekend Matt, Grace and I all piled into the Murano to attempt a 2 hour drive north to Harrisonburg. This was the longest that Grace had been in the car and prior to this, she has not really liked the car...How would this go?
Well, with me sitting in the backseat with Grace, a full bottle of food, and other items to entertain her, the trip was wonderful. She was eating or sleeping or playing the whole time, almost no crying at all!One of the reasons we went north was so that Matt and I could meet with our lawyer to draw up a will. Now that we have a little one it seems much more important that we know what will happen if anything ever does happen to us. After meeting with our lawyer we then had dinner at Cracker Barrel with some friends from an old school that I taught at in Staunton. We had invited many of my friends from there, but most could not make it. However, Mark and Sandy were able to make it (along with Sandy's kids) and she was a very good photographer. She is the one to thank for all of the pictures on this post.
After Cracker Barrel we went to Harrisonburg where Grace was loved on and cared for by many family members. I do not know if I held her at all unless I was nursing her.
It was a long trip, the first of many. But it was very good, and it will only get better!

New Dress and Photoshoot
It is not easy being a newborn, especially when you are still pretty small at six weeks.
A small six week old newborn has the problem of having drawers and a closet full of cute little clothes that do not fit at all, in fact she swims in them.
So when I received our baby gift for Grace from her Aunt and Uncle (Chris and Katie) I was elated! They gave us two Onesie Dresses for ages 0-3 months. Since they are Onesies they automatically fit better than other outfits, and they are so very cute.
The one in the picture is a white onesie with a pink polka-dot skirt out of flannel material, a cute little striped ribbon, and what you can not see because of where Grace's hands are is that "Grace" is embroidered on the front in pink. So very cute, and it FITS!
We got a second dress which is a white onesie with a yellow and brown fabric with a design of bears on it that has written on it "daddy's girl" (this fabric is also of flannel material), and on the top front "Daddy's Girl" is embroidered on it in brown.
I need to thank Katie and Katie's mom for working so hard on these beautiful outfits.
Thanks!

Sleep
*Disclaimer* This message is not to boast or to show off, it is just a document so that I can know what Grace did at this time, and to realize that I have no reason at all to complain.
I feel blessed, and I am enjoying it at this moment because I know that at any time it could change.
Since Grace was two weeks old she was sleeping 4 hours straight at night. I was amazed, and a bit frustrated since I was nursing and I WANTED her to wake up and eat. But the extended sleep time was great!
For the past two weeks Grace has been sleeping 5 to 5 1/2 hours at a stretch at night. My body has gotten used to these long stretches so I am enjoying the extra sleep time even more.
She has been a great sleeper, but as I said before it could change at any moment.

Time Flies!
Who would believe that it was just one month ago that my life changed very drastically?
It was one month ago that:
my name changed to "mommy"
my focus changed from myself to having a little one come before me
my productivity has declined greatly, but I do not care
my mind wanders to irrational worries about health and well being (more than usual)
I realized that I could love someone so much so fast that I had just met (besides my husband)
Happy one month birthday Grace...it seems like we just met yesterday :)

The Gracemobile
What is this cute little reindeer doing? Well waiting for a ride in her cool new vehicle!
A little over a month ago Matt and I discovered that someone was selling the exact jogging stroller on craigslist that we wanted for about 100 dollars less than asking price from the store. So we jumped at the chance to purchase it and got it about two weeks before she was born.
It is a wonderful B.O.B. jogging duallie! Yes, I know that we only have one child and now a double stroller...we are looking into the future and hoping for another before too long to fill that other spot. But in the meantime as Matt says, we can store a cooler in that side and the baby in the other.
I think that the cold weather has made us all a little cabin feverish, so we were excited about 55 degree weather. We all got bundled up, wrapped Grace up in blankets, and went for a run around the neighborhood. It felt so good to run. I had not been running for about four months, so it felt odd but wonderful!
I think that Grace is going to keep us thin and healthy because she loves riding in the stroller while we are jogging. If we stop, she does not like it. And the funny part is she also does not like the car. So if we want to use a moving vehicle to calm our baby down we will have to go for a run.
This wonderful little bubble is the weather shield that came with the stroller, keeps the wind off of her. I am hoping that this is the start of many runs that this stroller will have with us.

New Phone
Last week my phone broke in two. So I bought a new phone and all is good. In fact, all is great! I got an iPhone just like Matt, so he is teaching me about all of the fun things it can do.
I do not have a picture of the phone, but I can show you my background of the phone...
This is what I see each time I turn on my phone :)
Love it!

Math Problem
Flip open cell phone + concrete porch floor = cell phone that is two pieces!
I will be out of communication with the outside world till this evening when Matt and I will be getting me a new phone. Which is kind of funny because we were planning on getting one for me tonight anyway.
