Porch Swing

Quick postIt seems as though there is a plant growing beside our house that does not want us to use our porch swing....
It makes me laugh every time I see it!

Appointment

A week ago Monday I had my first prenatal appointment. I met my doctor and my nurse (suggested by my neighbor) for the first time. It was great!

My doctor and my nurse are great, which is a big relief since I was walking into this very blindly.

We sat and talked to the doctor and I had many of my questions answered by him.

Then we got to see the baby! We had a sonogram done to see the baby and also to measure the baby, and to see when the due date is.

The heart beat is galloping along at a nice 176 beats per minute which I heard is good.

In the picture of the baby above you can see the back of the head, the back, and hints of arms and legs...our baby seems to be camera shy already (Sorry that it is blurry, but it is a picture of a picture). This is not good since it's daddy is a shutterbug and loves to take A LOT of pictures!

But all is well and my actual due date is December 29th. In other words it will be a holiday baby whether it comes early or late.

Long Delay

It has been a long delay since the last time that I have posted, or at least longer than I have wished. There are a few reasons for that, so let me catch you up on what is going on in my life.

1. This past week one big change is that I have been noticing that my clothes are getting tighter, so I am starting to go through some of my maternity clothes that I have gathered. They do not quite fit, but they feel more comfortable.

2. I have had a bit of a hard week considering morning sickness. The child that I take care of at school was absent a few days this past week, so I worked a few short days to take it easy and recover from my sick feelings.

3. Saturday I attended my first class of this summer semester (my last semester!) I had to drive 3 hours to Powhatan, VA...but I only have to do that 2 more times and I will be done with that class.

4. Sunday I tried to recover from my class yesterday. I took many naps, and have been very drained of energy.

5. But good news is ahead. I am going camping this week, I have only 13 days of school left, and Monday I have my first visit with my OBGYN.

Life is good, and I hope to write more often.

Happy Mother's Day

I am only 7 weeks pregnant, so I do not feel as if I deserve the honor that other mothers receive on this day. But another way to look at it is that I am caring for a child already....so...

Happy Mother's Day to me.

Matt, his parents, Amy, and God have provided some very nice presents for me today.

Matt made breakfast for me this morning (which is not unusual for the weekend) when the food was ready he told me that he would bring the food out to me (which is also not unusual at all). When he arrived at the table his plate had eggs, sausage, and banana bread while mine had eggs, sausage, banana bread and a beautiful red box. I was shocked! I did not expect anything at all since I said earlier that I do not feel as if this is a day for me yet. But I opened it and saw a very beautiful silver bracelet with blue stones in it. After admiring the bracelet and saying thank you and I love you many, many times I thought I should get to eating if we are going to get to church on time. So I picked up my plate to turn it and move it closer so that I could eat, but as my fingers touched under the plate they felt something that should not be there. Upon more investigation I realized that it was not one, but two cards! One was a Happy Mother's Day to be card from Matt and the other was a similar card from Steve and Sue (Matt's parents). That was just a wonderful way to start such a special day.

The rest of the day was quite lazy. We watched Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and just did some things around the house. As I was wandering around the yard I noticed that God had provided some wonderful surprises in our yard. Two roses had their first bloom today. I feel in a way that is also a very special gift :)
Finally Amy (my sister) sent me a virtual bouquet through Facebook.

I just feel so special to have so many people showing that they are thinking of me and trying to make my day special.

Wardrobe

I am usually not one to talk much about my clothing or really for that matter care about what I wear. But I wanted to share with you a new wardrobe overhual that is going to be happening in my closet(s).
Nice shirt, isn't it? That is part of my new clothing that I have acquired. The special part of this clothing is that it includes room for growth :)

Yes, I am pregnant! Maternity clothes will be invading my closet(s), and I am so excited about it. Matt and I will be expecting a very special Christmas present since I am due somewhere around that day.
