Poster Contest Winner

One day Grace brought home a poster saying that there was a contest to draw a poster for the fire department about checking smoke detectors.
We were so busy that week that it was set aside.  Then a few days later I asked Grace if she wanted to do it.  She said yes so I pulled out the crayons, colored pencils, and markers.  I gave her a few sheets of white paper and underlined the words that were required to be on the poster.
She went to work and started to run back and forth from our smoke detector and the table where she was drawing.  Before long she said she was done.

I sent in the poster to school with her the next day.  A few weeks later we got notice that Grace had won first place in her age group!  We went to Keister Elementary School for the reception.
Her art teacher was there to support her!
Grace Got a ribbon, and a Walmart gift card, and a large bag with lots of random goodies in it.

I am so proud of my budding artist!

Pictures Please

Here are just some really great pictures of the kids (and one of me)
We went to vote on a chilly day in November and got a fun picture out of the deal.
I am very happy of this picture of Glen.  This is his "school" picture.  I say it like that since he is not in school and we do not usually get school pictures.  But this is the one that will be hanging on our wall for the next year.
This is Grace's school picture.  I really like how it turned out.  I almost want to take another one of her to have it brighter and crisper, but this one is very good for now.

Halloween Part 2

This year halloween fell on a Monday.  Since it was a school night, also since we had been trick or treating before and trunk or treating twice we decided to stay home on Halloween.
We made it a very special night though.  Glen wanted to dress up so he was Luigi.  Grace just wore one of her Halloween shirts.  We painted our pumpkins.
Here is Glen with the two pumpkins he painted.
Here is Grace with her and Glen's pumpkin.
They both wanted to pose with the pumpkins.
Then I had the kids help me make supper.  We had hotdogs wrapped in crescent rolls to make them look like a mummy.  They also had macaroni and cheese and carrots in hummus.
They loved wrapping the hotdog and they really liked that we ate on the porch like a picnic.
Then to finish the night out we played games and handed out candy.  The kids had so much fun.  I am glad that we had a very special and unique night.  What a fun Halloween.
