Matt could not wait. Yesterday we both watched the last episode of the third season and also the Motion Picture. We might be able to wait for the others....we shall see :)
Well, you were luckier than all of us Trekkers who had to wait 10 years for another glimpse of the Enterprise. Many people - fans even - complained about The Motion Picture, all those long, sweeping scans of the refurbished ship, and all that time spent marveling at the alien spacecraft. William Shatner talked a little about it later, how silly he felt looking enthralled for half an hour at a blank blue screen. Admittedly, it did drag a little at times. However, I've always thought that for a Trek fan, seeing the Enterprise again after so much time was cathartic, and those long gazing looks were necessary. If there was going to be any more Star Trek after this, this movie had to be made, and just this way. And they did make more movies, and three more TV series.
