June Camping Trip

The hope is that we will do more camping this year than we have in the past.  We will see how that plan goes, but we have done one trip at least.

In June we went camping on Skyline Drive (the same campground that we went to last year) and had a blast.
We arrived on Thursday morning and found a great campsite that had fallen trees and lots of rocks to climb on.
I think that the kids spent more time with the trees and rocks than they did at our actual site.
Nature's playground!
We also were beside an access point to the Appalachian Trail.  On Thursday we hiked a half of a mile into the trail and a half of a mile back.  So the kids have now done their first mile on the AT.
There was also a tenth of a mile loop that connected to our campground.  The kids ended up enjoying hiking so much that we did that loop at least two more times.
Here is my little camper as she climbs like a mountain goat.
My other little camper who quietly observes and studies everything.
Another wonderful trip.  Can't wait for the next one.

Summer Fun

We have had a lot of fun doing many activities together this summer.
But the most fun are the things that we just do at home.
Playing on the playground, riding bike, or simply going for a walk.
This summer Grace learned how to ride a bike with no training wheels.  Glen has moved from his tricycle to a bike with training wheels (his legs are a bit too short for the balance bike that we have waiting for him)

Riven Rock

There is a state park that is about 10 miles from Mamaw and Papaw's house.  It is called Riven Rock and it is exactly what it sounds like a river with rocks.
Glen got his water shooter and had a blast.  That was all he did the whole time that we were there.
You can tell by the look in his eyes that he was willing to shoot anyone who came close enough to him.
Grace waded out in the water and chose different rocks that she wanted to sit on.

Once again, Glen with his shooter...

Grace sitting on one of the huge rocks in the middle of the river.
Amy, Mike, Adam, Austin, and Mamaw were all there too.
Grace decided that she wanted to run along the concrete bridge with Adam.  It worked the first time.
The second time she fell and got hurt.  So a little cuddle from me helped make her better.

We had a great time.  I am sure that we will be back.

Just some pics of my cuties

Grace has recently learned how to get up into this tree all by herself.  I am so proud of her.
Now that we have ripped out five bushes around the house, Glen has quite a few more dirt piles to play in.
 What a cutie!
He is going to make a good daddy someday.
She is going to make a good mommy someday.
More dirt piles.  Where there is dirt, you will find Glen.
 Cheeseball!
 More dirt...
He is a cutie!

The End Of Preschool

It has happened.  Grace took her last march up the hill to the playground at her preschool.
Each year on the last day of class they have a party up at the playground and the students march up with musical instruments to celebrate the end of another preschool year.
Mamaw and Glen were waiting at the top to celebrate with Grace.
The class gathered under the shelter.
And each child got a bag that had their name tags, artwork, and presents in it from their teachers.
This was a great two years for Grace, but she is so ready to go to kindergarten.  And she will do great!

Tea Party

During Spring Break Mamaw decided that she wanted to have a tea party with Grace, Glen and Adam.
Amy came over and helped Grace get ready.  Grace got her fingernails and her toenails painted.
She also got her hair curled.
She was so happy.  She loved her new look (but it took so long to do...)
Mamaw and Grace, the two princesses.
The two princes with the princess
The tea party was a great time with good company and wonderful food.
Thanks Mamaw (and Amy for the styling!)

Playset

We are loving the play set that Matt designed and built for the kids.

We are also loving the warm weather!!!
