In the beginning of May Mrs. Leaper told me that Grace was going to get an award and she wanted me to get her to the final band concert so that they could present it to her. That is great, but she did not want me to tell her that she was getting an award.
So I got Grace to the concert. At the end of the concert they started talking about the Color Guard award. As they were talking about the wonderful attributes of the recipient, Grace had determined that numerous of her friends would probably be called for it. When they called her name she was SHOCKED! This is an award that goes to one Color Guard participant per school per year. It is the National School Color Guard Award and she got a personal little plaque, and her name is added to a larger plaque at the school. Usually it is given to a senior or maybe a junior, so for her to get it as a sophomore is amazing!
